It was an fun 1 3/4 hr. drive through the rolling hills, some farm land, and towns lying beside the expressway. There were some steep hills with gradual curves that we had tried to imagine going down on a little red wagon...without brakes. : ) It was a beautiful day for a long ride.
When we got off the expressway, the Brockett van was in the front (where I was riding) and the two-way radio rang. I answered it, but no one answered back. We slowed down and looking behind us we saw the Dart van pulled off the side of the road just past the stop sign. When Mr. Brockett turned around to go back and see what was up, we saw all the men standing next to the open hood and steam coming out! Just as Dad was pulling off the ramp the engine light had came on and the temperature of the van started to spike real fast. Praise the Lord, there was a gas station right there so the boys got behind the van and pushed it down into the parking lot. As it was almost time for the concert dinner to start, we decided to go to the concert and work with the van afterwards as the van wasn't in any danger of leaving. : )
So, 13 of us piled(?), squished(?), packed(?), squeezed(?) stacked(?), {I don't know what the best word is} into Brockett's 8 passenger van.

It was only a mile or so to the concert and when we pulled into the entrance there was a man directing traffic who said, "Just park right back there, but you can unload here if you need to." We all burst out laughing in the van and wondered what he would think if he saw all of us come pouring out from all sides of the little van and really unload!
The Torreys were waiting for us at the table and shortly afterwards the meal began. Mmmm, that was good. There were 500 people and the food line went so fast! They started with the people at the middle tables who walked from up by the stage, down the sides to the back of the building where there were 7 tables loaded with food. As the middle tables finished, the next tables walked down to the front and went up either side through the food tables and back to their own tables. It was faster then it is at home sometimes! : )

They had all kinds of salads, a couple soups, rolls, and the main dishes were chunks of turkey wrapped in bacon and breaded tilapia(fish). The turkey wasn't quite as good as our turkey is : ), but the bacon flavor made it almost as good and the fish was really good, just missing the BBQ sauce. : ) For dessert I had a chocolate-mint cake. Yummy!
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome GREATER VISION!!!"

(Gerald Wolfe, Rodney Griffin, and Jason Wauldrup)
Greater Vision is a Southern Gospel trio. They are alot like the Cathedrals (the greatest group there was). In fact, Gerald Wolfe used to sing with the Cathedrals. The members in Greater Vision; Gerald Wolfe, Rodney Griffin, and Jason Wauldrup, love the Lord and they pour out their hearts in the songs they sing of God. They have fun while they do it, but aren't in it for the show and popularity.
Rodney Griffin has written over 300 songs and has been chosen the "Songwriter of the Year" for 9 years in a row at the National Quartet Convention. His songs reflect the time he spends in the Scripture and what he learns there.

Here they are singing "Unclouded Day" in imitation of the bluegrass group, the Dillards. Does anybody know who the Dillards are? Have you ever watched the old TV shows of Andy Griffith? In one of the shows there was a family called the Darling family who were hillbillies from the backwoods. There was the dad and girl, then the three boys (the Dillards) who looked half asleep the whole time and didn't say a word. When they sang "they sang flatfooted with a straight face".

Gerald playing "It Is No Secret" by Stuart Hamblin.

Afterwards, we went up to the table and talked with the group a bit. They were very friendly and personable, unlike other groups I've seen. We got our pictures taken with them. Gerald said that he remembered me from last September!

Sarah and I with the group.
We were one of the last ones to leave, like usual. : ) And we went back to our deserted van.
We put more antifreeze in it, but it wouldn't start.

So, we tried jumping it with Mr. Torrey's car. With no success.

Me, Hillary, and Emily waiting in our seats.

Contemplating............
We tried pushing it across the parking lot....

Still no success.
So, we decided that we would leave it there. We went back to the Family Life Center and asked them for a phone number of an auto repair shop and left them the keys. Now we are awaiting a decision regarding what to do with it.
The boys got a ride home with Mr. Torrey so only 10 of us were in the Brockett's van. It was a little more roomy. : ) We got home some time after 1am. What an event-filled day...and night! : )

Whew!!! Talk about enough adventure for one night! I love it when you post.
Thanks, Angela! That was a fun night even though the van croaked. :) We may need to get a new van, but we are praying about it.
Watch for the next post coming soon! It will be about a prank we did. :)

It's such a pain to have car trouble.
