The drought has ended.

Yes, believe it or not the two month drought has ended.

The reason why...

IS...

we had a calf!
calf2

Earlier this spring, when we knew we had to dry our cow off, we saved gallons and gallons of frozen cream and some of frozen milk. The cream we had to save so we could keep making homemade ice cream and the milk so that we wouldn't have to use that fake milk from the store. My brothers always told me that 2% milk meant it was 98% water and only 2% of real milk - and I believed them!

So, we were really excited when our cow gave birth to a little heifer early one morning.
It was so fun to watch the little one try to stand up after only a half an hour of being born.

The calf would go round and round her mama trying to find the milk. It was so funny to watch!

Mama, where is my milk?!

At last, she found it and was sucking happily away.

And now we are happily drinking good, refreshing real cows milk morning, noon, and night! Along with making homemade vanilla or mint ice cream, butter, and cheese!

We also have some new animals on our farm!

Let me introduce to you our two piggies...

and lambs!

Have a good last day of July!

Peter and Amy's Wedding Pictures

Well, friends, I have finally posted Peter and Amy's wedding pictures from a year ago. Summer isn't the best time for keeping up on posting, my apologies.
But, for now, lean back and take a look at a glimpse from history...=)

Early on the morning of July 7, 2007, "the Day", Becky and I rode with Peter to the church. It was a beautiful old church in Attica that they had chosen for the wedding.

Haying!

As soon as we turned the calendar to July, the sun shone! We only had 5 acres of hay down at the time, but we were able to get a little over 100 bales/acre which is good.

Haying

The Brockett's came over to help us unload so we were able to get all 5 1/2 wagons done in the afternoon. It was great fun!

Randy is such a funny dog! He loves to sit on the top bales watching us work and to ride on the wagons whenever he can.

Haying

"This one's yours!"

Haying

We all went down back to pick up the bales that missed the wagon.

Between wagons, Mommy had snacks and cold drinks all ready for us. The hit of the afternoon was ROOT BEER FLOATS!!

We have about 30 more acres of hay to do and tomorrow we are butchering our first batch of chickens for the year. So, here goes...

COMING SOON: Peter and Amy's wedding pictures from last year! Their anniversary was Monday, the 7th.
