Autumnal Equine Farewell

(This title is a cross between the Autumnal Equinox and the Ashokan Farewell.)  This post is about Ben’s halflinger team that he has owned since early spring and is now on its way to the Conowango Valley to be trained by the Amish to work in harness.

Dan is the darker horse, (and no, he is not named after Dad.)  He is 9 years old, somewhat stubborn, but he stands well and enjoys attention.

Next is Chance, with a white star and lighter mane.  He is 4 years old, he gets a little jumpy around something new, but he also has been taming well and walks well with a leadrope.

Can you tell they are going to miss Ben?

A spy in the bushes keeps an eye on the big hooves.

And Abby’s horse, Tal, wonders what is happening to his pals.

Thanks to Lorna and Don for hauling them.

And away they go.  We expect they will be gone for a month. The pasture will be empty.

Ben will have to go pet the donkeys instead.
