Welcome to the family, Robert Matthew!

IMG_4273

Arriving August 10th, Tim and Jess'  little guy weighed in at 8 lbs. 14 oz, and 20 in.

Doesn’t Grandpa look pleased??

IMG_4275

He created some confusion with several false “Today I am coming!!” alarms and then changing his mind.

It seemed he liked to pick Sundays to pull that trick on.  Then wait another week and try again that next Sunday.

 IMG_4276

Finally, he picked a Saturday.  Tim and Jess were hesitant to call the midwife until they were sure.

Really, truly sure.

IMG_4281

As you may have guessed, the midwife didn’t quite make it in time.  Tim caught his little son, then called the midwife, “Where are you?”    “Pulling into your driveway,” she answered, and Tim let her take over from there.

Audrey hasn’t yet figured out this squirmy little “toy doll”.

But once she patiently let him suck her banana-flavored finger until he fell asleep.

IMG_4299

IMG_4298

He opened his eyes for his Aunt Abby.  Beautiful eyes.

IMG_4301

We are so glad you are now a part of our family, little Robbie.

Watch out, you’re gonna be Really Loved!!

(Yes, that is an engagement ring you see on Abby’s finger.

Abby is engaged and planning her wedding for this fall.)

Rainbow Babies

IMG_3488

 What is a Rainbow Baby?

In short, a rainbow baby is a baby that

Is conceived after the loss of a previous child.

Rainbow babies are born with

The promise of new beginnings.

A rainbow baby does not negate

The fact that the storm has happened,

That there will not be hard times in the  future,

but instead, provides hope and beauty for the future.

IMG_3490

Our family grieved after losing two grandchildren last year as both Amy and Jess suffered miscarriages.   We know that they are safe in God’s arms, and have a living hope of meeting them in Heaven.

Praise the Lord for new life and new beginnings as by God’s grace both Amy and Jess are expecting again this year!

Here are some pictures of a baby shower that friends blessed Peter and Amy with after they lost their baby supplies in the house fire last winter.  A grand celebration!  Amy is due to give birth to her rainbow baby, Lord willing, in May (anytime now!!)

Little diaper babies Abby made by rolling little diapers and wrapping them with washcloths, and donning little sock hats, aren’t they darling?

Mom, happy to be a grandma again!!  She made the gifts in the picture below, a super soft blanket with silky edging, and the flannel drawstring nightgown, with the added gift of baby’s first little teddy!

DSCN2498

Amy and Peter have chosen to be surprised, do you think it will wear pink or blue??

IMG_3525

These little reversible cloth shoes I (Becky) made from a pattern online.  Amy loves plaids.

DSCN2504

Here’s a nice round tummy picture taken in our living room recently as Peter was giving Ethan a good, thorough tickling treatment.  Whenever he stopped, Ethan begged for more!  You should have heard those deep belly laughs coming from the poor little victim!

IMG_3691

This is the wall quilt I made as a tribute for little Glory, stillborn at 6 months along last June.

It has the verse from Jeremiah 1:5,  “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee…”

IMG_8671

I also made a similar quilt for Tim and Jess’s baby with the teddy bear theme.  Jess loves teddy bears.

The miscarriage took place too early to know if it was a girl or boy, so I chose old fashioned teddy colors.

Here it is in progress…  The center embroidered teddy is colored in softly with crayon.

Fritz is helping as I stitch, or is he nervous about loose pins??

This was all hand stitched with love.

IMG_3616

This verse is from Isaiah 40:11, “He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom.”

Little Dart Babies in Heaven, we love you!

A Jaunt Around the Farmyard

DSCN2554

As the warm weather moved in, Dad said, “Hey, lets get that swing back up,  its time to sit out in the sunshine!”

DSCN2526

Its fun to watch the bulbs spring forth with all their rainbow colors.

DSCN2521

We love to capture the fragrance of hyacinths by putting them in vases, where their aroma will fill the room.

DSCN2361

A bedraggled looking hen playing in the puddles!!

DSCN2515

The trees have swelling buds, and the greenhouse is up and running.

DSCN2518

Abby is tagging tomatoes here, one tag in every pack sure adds up to many fistfuls of tags!

DSCN2519

Fritz is offering to give a tour, he likes the underside of the tables best.

DSCN2547

Yikes!!  Its hard not to get pictures like this with donkeys, they are so good natured and profoundly curious!

DSCN2550

There, that’s a better pose.  The shaggy winter coat will soon be shed.  They have been racing about and kicking up their heels with pure joy and enthusiasm to be outdoors again.  You just gotta laugh at their antics!

DSCN2329

Ben and his dog Randy dreaming of grilling out for picnics, with burgers and Mom’s great potato salad.

DSCN2338

Two little munchkins ready to be farmers.  What big boots you have, Boaz.  Maybe Ethan can fit in them too!

DSCN2432

A cozy scene in the afternoon sun.  Ben is reading about Barry, the Bravest Saint Bernard.  Ethan is sure that the boy hero of the story is “Uncle Mike”, which in his words sounds more like “Kah Mike” and points him out on every page.

IMG_3429

Abby made Wyoming Whoppers, these did not last long at all.  Shameful!
