What is a Rainbow Baby?
In short, a rainbow baby is a baby that
Is conceived after the loss of a previous child.
Rainbow babies are born with
The promise of new beginnings.
A rainbow baby does not negate
The fact that the storm has happened,
That there will not be hard times in the future,
but instead, provides hope and beauty for the future.
Our family grieved after losing two grandchildren last year as both Amy and Jess suffered miscarriages. We know that they are safe in God’s arms, and have a living hope of meeting them in Heaven.
Praise the Lord for new life and new beginnings as by God’s grace both Amy and Jess are expecting again this year!
Here are some pictures of a baby shower that friends blessed Peter and Amy with after they lost their baby supplies in the house fire last winter. A grand celebration! Amy is due to give birth to her rainbow baby, Lord willing, in May (anytime now!!)
Little diaper babies Abby made by rolling little diapers and wrapping them with washcloths, and donning little sock hats, aren’t they darling?
Amy’s Mom in the red sweater above; and her twin sister, Kim, in the picture below.
Mom, happy to be a grandma again!! She made the gifts in the picture below, a super soft blanket with silky edging, and the flannel drawstring nightgown, with the added gift of baby’s first little teddy!
Amy and Peter have chosen to be surprised, do you think it will wear pink or blue??

These little reversible cloth shoes I (Becky) made from a pattern online. Amy loves plaids.
Here’s a nice round tummy picture taken in our living room recently as Peter was giving Ethan a good, thorough tickling treatment. Whenever he stopped, Ethan begged for more! You should have heard those deep belly laughs coming from the poor little victim!
This is the wall quilt I made as a tribute for little Glory, stillborn at 6 months along last June.
It has the verse from Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee…”
I also made a similar quilt for Tim and Jess’s baby with the teddy bear theme. Jess loves teddy bears.
The miscarriage took place too early to know if it was a girl or boy, so I chose old fashioned teddy colors.
Here it is in progress… The center embroidered teddy is colored in softly with crayon.
Fritz is helping as I stitch, or is he nervous about loose pins??
This was all hand stitched with love.
This verse is from Isaiah 40:11, “He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom.”
Little Dart Babies in Heaven, we love you!
Jess receiving the quilt with Emma’s help. Tim and Jess are expecting, Lord willing, in August.
